Collaboration in the form of partnerships with leaders in the carbon value chain including Toucan, Flow Carbon and SCB have been set up by Solid World DAO to transform and disrupt the carbon market.

Bardee is the largest insect breeding, fertiliser and protein producer in Australia. Its products are helping to make agriculture more sustainable, offsetting carbon by diverting food waste from landfill, and replacing unsustainable feed and fertiliser in the food system.

Uluu’s products act like plastic but are made from seaweed, not fossil fuels. They’re strong, lightweight and waterproof, while being truly biodegradable and biocompatible. Uluu is naturally produced via fermentation. This process uses saltwater microbes fed with farmed seaweed—a regeneratively-grown feedstock that can be scaled to entirely replace the fossil fuels used to make 400 million tonnes of plastic each year, all while sequestering carbon and bioremediating our oceans. Uluu can be directly substituted for plastic in existing manufacturing equipment, including to produce fibres that can replace polyester in textiles.

Tanso aims to address the most pressing issue in sustainability management: ensuring data availability as a first step in enabling the complex process of calculating and reporting the environmental effects of physical goods. By developing software for industrial manufacturers, it is assisting one of the most emissions-intensive, yet underserved, industries in reaching net-zero and measuring, managing, and acting on their sustainability data while creating real business value.

FLO Materials is commercializing a novel circular polymer platform called ECANs to enable the manufacturing and recycling of sustainable alternatives to high performance plastics, including thermosets and mixed material composites used in durable goods. The recycling can be performed at low temperature, low energy, in the absence of catalysts, and even in mixed waste streams without compromising quality and efficiency. FLO's technology unlocks the potential to create complex, multi-plastic products that can be manufactured easily and recycled into another product of equal or higher performance and value.

Climate change is driving a transformative pivot in agriculture towards high-tech soilless greenhouses. These drastically reduce water use and emissions while significantly increasing yields. However, like humans need our gut microbiome, plants rely on the soil microbiome. This is missing in soilless agriculture, leading to reduced plant health and yield. Concert Bio addresses this by giving growers all the tools they need to create and manage an optimal microbiome in their system. Their proprietary platform gives growers unprecedented insights into their existing microbiome and uses that date to identify novel plant-beneficial microbes.

Modern Synthesis is a biotech company bringing life to new materials. Their patent-pending process works with bacteria to produce an entirely new class of nanocellulose-based materials which offer performance without plastics and aesthetics without animal inputs. Not only does this allow them to create lower-impact, high-value alternatives that can displace animal and plastic-based textiles, but it also enables greater aesthetic variability for their customers. They’re not just a leather replacement, they’re unlocking novel aesthetics and new performance possibilities that reimagine what natural materials are capable of.

SiZable exploit the gravitational potential of ~20% heavier-than-water sea salt brine in seawater. SiZ combines the benefits of pumped-hydro energy storage with the unlimited scaling potential and streamlined deployment provided by an offshore environment, all without making use of polluting or scarce materials.
